11/6/10 sukma回来。。

Siti Nur Aesyah Anis Fadhil made her Malaysia Games debut .
THEY do not get any younger than Siti Nur Aesyah Anis Fadhil at the Malaysia Games as the petite eight-year-old from Pahang captivated the wushu audience at the Malacca Universiti Teknikal Malaysia sports hall in Durian Tunggal yesterday. Although Nur Aesyah only placed 15th of 16 exponents in the women's nanquan, the Games debutant drew the loudest cheers for her routine which fetched 7.00 points.

The Mandarin-speaking Standard Two pupil of SJK (C) Taman Tas, Kuantan, as befitting someone her age, was oblivious to what was going on around her.

"I don't know," said the soft-spoken Nur Aesyah when asked if she was intimidated by the atmosphere.
Prodded by the scrum of reporters around her, Nur Aesyah began to loosen up and became more confident answering questions.

"I could hear the people screaming but I just concentrated on my routine. I just went in to do what I was taught and I feel very happy now."

The Malaysia Games is only her second national-level competition after last year's Malaysian Open in Cheras.

Trained by Yun Lei, the Pahang coach from China, Nur Aesyah began her involvement in wushu after being enrolled by her father into the sport.

"My father is a friend of the coach and he got me started after seeing the crowd's reaction to the event. At first, it was tough but after a while it became easier.

"It also meant the coach started to scold me more often," said Nur Aesyah nonchalantly.

Meanwhile, national exponents dominated proceedings except in the women's nanquan where Negri Sembilan's Wong Yik Yan upstaged teammate Tai Cheau Xuen and See Min of the Federal Territories, both internationals, to gold with 9.52 points.

"I'm happy to have beaten them both although it's not the first time I did it," said Yik Yan, 19, who won her straight third Malaysia Games gold after winning the nangun in 2006 and 2008.

World champion Ho Mun Hua delivered Malacca's first gold of the Games when he won the men's nanquan while Chai Fong Wei, world junior champion in 2006, followed up with the hosts' second gold in the women's changquan.

National athlete Ng Shin Yii took Malacca's wushu tally to three gold with victory in the women's taijiquan.

RESULTS -- Men's Nanquan: 1 Ho Mun Hua (Mal) 9.70 pts, 2 Kevan Cheah (Pen) 9.65, 3 Lau Hui Wei (Sar) 9.57;

Chanquan: 1 Ng Say Yoke (Ked) 9.70 pts, 2 Gjeblehim Bong Teck Fuu (Sar) 9.67, 3 Ong Shi Chuan (Mal) 9.55;

Taijiquan: 1 Loh Jack Chan (Sar) 9.75 pts, 2 Go Boon Xiong (Mal) 9.59, 3 Foong Foo Mun (NS) 9.52;

Women's Nanquan: 1 Wong Yik Yan (NS) 9.52 pts, 2 Tai Cheau Xuen (NS) 9.45, 3 See Min (FT) 9.26;

Chanquan: 1 Chai Fong Wei (Mal) 9.60 pts, 2 Amelia Su Leh Wern (Sar) 9.40, 3 Khaw Jing Yee (NS) 9.22;

Taijiquan: 1 Ng Shin Yii (Mal) 9.65 pts, 2 Pang Tung Yee (NS) 9.52, 3 Phoon Eyin (NS) 9.38.

Emas pertama Melaka

Oleh Aida Adilah Mat

2010/06/10

KEUPAYAAN atlit Melaka mempamerkan lenggok mengagumkan membolehkan Ho Mun Hua menghadiahkan pingat emas pertama buat pasukan tuan rumah, pada saingan hari pertama wushu Sukma menerusi acara Nanquan.
